Begin now at the comfort of your home

You may have heard this a million times but just 30 minutes a day is all you need to amp your fitness or even start the journey. And guess what that is only 2% time of your day! Which is clearly doable. And really it is that simple.

So here is the thing, I am not saying ‘hit the gym’ or join some membership for classes or engaging in any other activity which will require your time to & fro. One can simply begin at home. Let’s get started with a few points:

Always set clear goals: Determine what you want to achieve through your home workouts. Whether it's weight loss, muscle gain, improved cardiovascular health, or just staying active, having clear goals will help you stay motivated. Assess Your Fitness Level. Be honest with yourself about your current fitness level. This will help you choose appropriate workouts and avoid pushing yourself too hard initially.

Plan your routine find a comfortable spot at your home and you are good to go.

Set a Schedule: Determine how many days a week you'll work out and for how long. Start with shorter sessions and gradually increase the duration as your fitness improves. I hit my initial weight loss goal by just working out for 30 minutes, but I made sure I was consistent at it.

Choose Workout Types: Decide what kind of workouts you want to do. You can include a mix of cardiovascular exercises (like jumping jacks, running in place), strength training (using bodyweight exercises or resistance bands), flexibility and mobility exercises (yoga, stretching), and possibly some high-intensity interval training (HIIT) for variety. If these seem daunting to you then a humble quick walk does the trick too. Just don’t underestimate the power of movement.

Whichever exercise you choose to do make sure to always start with a warm-up to get your muscles and joints ready for exercise. And after the workout, cool down with some gentle stretching to help prevent muscle soreness.

Gather your equipment: You won’t need much maybe some resistance bands, dumbbells, or even just your bodyweight can be enough to begin with.

Once you have planned your routine following are the crucial points to keep in mind:

Start Slowly: Begin with exercises that match your fitness level. As you get comfortable, gradually increase the intensity, duration, or complexity of your workouts.

Learn Proper Form: Look for online tutorials or videos that demonstrate proper form for the exercises you plan to do. This is crucial to prevent injuries and maximize the effectiveness of your workouts. The internet has a plethora of information.

Stay Consistent: Stick to your workout schedule. Consistency is key to seeing results over time. Pick a time in the day or night which you are sure to commit to.

Listen to Your Body: Pay attention to how your body feels. If you're extremely sore or fatigued, it's okay to take a rest day.

Stay Motivated: Keep your workouts interesting by varying exercises, intensity, and formats.

Music and Entertainment: Play your favourite music or watch TV shows while working out to make it more enjoyable.

Track Progress: Keep track of your workouts, improvements, and achievements to stay motivated.

Seek Professional Guidance: If you have any health concerns or medical conditions, consult your doctor before starting a new exercise routine.

If you have the luxury of time you can invest in a personal trainer OR for ‘fitness on your fingertips’ use fitness apps for personalized guidance.

Remember that progress takes time, so be patient with yourself. Starting with small, manageable steps will help you build a solid foundation for your home workout journey.
